Udhiyah – Qurbani Program

On Eid Ul Adha which means the completion of the Hajj for the Muslim Communities  celebrates and honors the tradition of the Prophet Ibrahim (Alaihi salaam) by sacrificing an animal and distributing the meat to those in need.

Qurbani Program is the act of sacrificing a livestock animal. It takes place after Eid-Ul-Adha prayers, marking the conclusion of Hajj. Millions of Muslims around the world perform the tradition of Prophet Ibrahim by sacrificing an animal and then distributing the meat according to Islamic Teachings.

Qurban makes us a close to Allah, teaches us obedience, devotion, and promotes the idea of helping other Muslim brothers and sisters. The meat from Qurban is divided into three portions; one for the family, one for the neighbor and one for the poor. Islam preaches about neighbors’ rights and of those who live in poverty.

As per the program, AF undertakes the responsibility of distributing fresh meat in some of the most vulnerable places in the regions where we work.

Eid Gifts

Every year at the time of Eid ul Adha, we provide Eid gifts for children in the neediest areas. These presents include clothes, shoes, sweets and toys, and special events are organized during the days of Eid to bring some happiness into the lives of these youngsters.

Humanitarian Relief:

Food Distribution

Alif Foundation distributes food to the needy families and those displaced for one reason or another. We provide food supplements to children with stunting to improve their growth and correct stunting for their development and realization of full potential.

ALIF Foundation also provides fully balanced meals for pre-school children necessary for their holistic development. We depend on passionate, active volunteers for meal packaging events and food distribution. Our Program has solid, measurable results and restores hope for hungry children.

Food security programs are usually one of two types: emergency programs, which provide food aid and medical and agricultural supplies to victims and refugees; and safety net programs, which distribute basic food and food supplements to vulnerable populations, like children.

Our focus is on reaching the most vulnerable needy families in East Africa.

These programming provide food for those who are highly food insecure. In most cases, these programs target victims of manmade emergencies and natural disasters (i.e. hurricanes, earthquakes) in addition to vulnerable populations.

Relief programs focus on building a foundation for sustainable food security. These programs seek to change the conditions under which long-term hunger and poverty develop and persist. Programs focus on areas such as education, natural resource management and peace building.

Promotion of Health

Support health facilities with equipment /refurbishment and Technical skills and training to deliver quality healthcare services

When thinking about health, medicine and doctors are the first thing that come to mind. In essence, health is a much broader and inclusive subject with many different aspects to it and one of its key areas is Health Promotion.

We consider Health Promotion as the means to support individuals to take responsibility for their own health and to work for an environment in which they can be successful.

Health (utilization)

Health sector projects aim to improve the individual’s ability to utilize food. Health programs typically revolve around four main areas: child survival, maternal and child health, improved sanitation infrastructure and HIV and AIDS education.

Action areas for Health Promotion:

  • Build Healthy Public Policies
  • Create Supportive Environments
  • Strengthen Community Action
  • Develop Personal skills
  • Reorient Health Services
